6 Month Oppiversary!

July 1, 2010 Leave a Comment

Today marks the 6 month anniversary of my gastric bypass surgery. What a difference half a year makes! In a nutshell I have lost 65 and a 1/2 lbs and countless inches…gone down from a dress size 24/26 to 16/18 and wow do I feel good. It’s great to wake up in the morning after a good night’s sleep, peruse the wardrobe and decide what to wear rather than what will fit, and make plans for the day that don’t fill me with dread. But best of all, and don’t laugh, I can start the day with a browse of the newspapers in a sun-filled conservatory WITH MY LEGS CROSSED!

Every weight-loss surgery patient comments that it is the little things that make all the difference and I fully endorse that. Ruth says she is so pleased that she now can put on her own socks; Jason says he can now kick a ball with his children and keep up with them; and Claire relishes the opportunity to go clothes shopping for clothes in regular size shops. No wonder our weight-loss surgery dates become our second birthdays!
