Tomorrow evening sees the launch of the new series of ‘Fat Surgeons’. I shall be on the 1st episode with my daughter Lucy…where we chat about wls in general, my experiences and do a bit of bariatric cooking!
Things have changed quite a bit since I first went to visit Shaw Somers (pictured) some 2+ years ago. I’ve lost 61/2 stone; revived a flagging food career as a writer/journalist and broadcaster; and started www.bariatriccookery.com
Along the way I have written a couple of bariatric cookery books ‘Return to Slender’ and ‘Return 2 Slender…Second Helpings’; met countless wls patients and their teams; and tried my upmost to publicise the merits (as well as considerations necessary) of bariatric surgery to help seriously obese patients.
For any of this to work long term major changes have to be made and I hope my website tries to help with these adjustments in a practical way.
This is a 5 part series with surgeons Shaw Somers and Chris Pring. It not only features many wls patients but will also explore the reasons behind Britain’s bulging waistline, the diets, and food that patients have to eat post-surgery, but also the changes it has made to their lives.
I hope you will join, Lucy, myself and all the other ‘brave’ souls who have contributed to this series.
This new series airs on Really, from Thursday 14th June (Sky 248, Virgin 267, Freeview 20) 9pm. Watch live or set your remote and let me know what you think.
