Recognise 5 Great Choices

November 12, 2016 4 Comments

Cloud Smileys

They say many clouds have silver linings and I am today reflecting on just that! After a bit of a tumble yesterday I am grateful that all I have are a few nasty bruises, a headache and a bit of a ‘shiner’. Plus the knowledge that I have learnt a lesson and won’t leave a trailing flex … well, … trailing … perfect for tripping over. It has however given me a bit of enforced reflection time

and, whilst I am licking my wounds, a bit of space to reflect upon some ways to recognise and repeat better or even great choices after WLS. Everyday we have an opportunity to make changes, choose better and …. wind up that trailing flex ….

Recognise 5 Great Choices

On a daily basis, you are faced with countless choices that affect your weight loss surgery journey, from what to eat to whether to exercise. No matter what else happens in your life, you are in control of your choices. If you make a habit of noticing and praising yourself each time you make a good weight loss surgery choice, you will be motivated to make more good choices. They build on each other.

Here are a few choices you might recognise. They may seem small, but they show your commitment to your weight loss, and they add up to big results:

Measuring portions instead of eyeballing them.

Packing a lunch the night before so that you don’t rush out of the house empty-handed the next day.

Getting up to walk/exercise in the morning instead of rolling over in bed. Indoors or out – your choice.

Making the effort to go to your support group meeting instead of staying at home.

Phoning a friend to talk through your feelings instead of drowning them in food.

Sore, fragile and hiding from the mirror Lynn. My face does look a bit of a mess – bruising of course has got worse at it ‘comes out’ but plodding on. Kind of you to ask. Going to go and get some sea air tomorrow in the hope that it will help with the repair process. How are you doing? Better than me I hope. C x

Thanks so much – a second Bariatric Cookery HQ by the sea! Expect to see a few more fishy recipes and some outdoor dining ideas. Face is thankfully repairing well with the outdoor air although I am still wrapping up well with a disguising scarf so as not to frighten the seagulls. C x
