Good heavens but it’s warm outside today! It’s only 11 am and the mercury is registering 30 degrees…with the promise of a few degrees higher as the day progresses.
I had planned a day of recipe testing but can’t bring myself to turn the oven on so plan B (writing and then a cooling swim) is being put into action.
Several of my US bariatric buddies mention soaring temperatures and the accompanying lethargy to cook and sometimes eat and now I know what they mean. So I am going to resort to their action plan today and opt for a cooling, chilled protein drink for ‘lunch’ out of doors. If I had thought about it sooner it may have been breakfast instead. No matter, the drink will give me the protein and nourishment I need and a break from the food prep.
I shall be having one of my CLICK protein drinks … just about the only protein drinks I have found that suits my palate. They’re coffee-based, not too sweet, mix well without the granular texture some others have and conveniently come in a handy sachet to mix in a jug or shaker cup at home or away.
I have recently started to stock these on this website …. see the SHOP page for more details, since until then I could only purchase them sachet-style from the US. They’re truly delicious and if you’re a coffee lover then will give you the ‘shot’ you need at any time of the day (and for a much reduced price then expensive coffee houses).
When the temperature dips tonight I plan to make some as drinks on a stick, or CLICKsickles, and perhaps an ice cream for tomorrow and the next few days…since it looks like this heat wave is set to stay a while longer. Ice cream in a coffee mug for breakfast might be a new one for me…but I think it may catch on!
