That clock is steadily ticking towards midnight on the 31st December and New Year’s Eve! What plans, if any do you have? I have a very special party to attend – a joint New Year and notable Birthday celebration where I know food will be in abundance and wine will be flowing freely. I’m not too concerned since, six years out now, I have negotiated these events before and come through them pretty well unscathed but they are a challenge.
Preparing ahead for me is the key to success – I look at
what will be on offer food wise, sometimes add my own which I know is WLS friendly if appropriate, occasionally eat before I go, prepare ahead my tactics and reasons for saying ‘no’ in the nicest but firmest of ways, and revisit the advice I know works about putting myself and my well-being first (the hardest part). This adapted guest blog below pretty well sums up some of the things to be mindful of. I hope it might also help you to find your way through this party mine field. But do enjoy … my dearest wish has always been to be able to celebrate parties and events like everyone else and not feel out of control and it’s my wish for you too …
