They say the heart of any home is the kitchen. Here at Bariatric Cookery HQ I say the heart of any kitchen is the cooker.
I have a new one today, a black shiny sleek one from Esse (who I have been cooking with for years). It’s a range-style cooker but with all the mod cons. It’s electric for a start and can be switched on or off at a whim (a Godsend when the mercury does rise) . The top oven is fan-assisted (can’t wait to see how that performs); the bottom oven is conventional and then there’s the warming oven (great for plates and keeping food warm).
New for me will be the induction hob….will let you know how I get on with this. If any of you cooking enthusiasts out there have any tips for me then please get in touch!
By the way, I am not being paid to say any of this, Esse have been my range cooker of choice ever since I road-tested a whole host some 10 years ago when writing my ‘Country Range Cookbook’. I love the fact they are a British company with a fine old pedigree. Ask the guys at ‘River Cottage’ they love it too.
First into the oven will be my alternative bread pudding…made lighter and more nutritious with a little tweaking.
