Bariatric Banana Bomb Shake!

July 27, 2016 2 Comments

Unlike many bariatric patients I come across I don’t imbibe very many protein drinks or shakes – I’ve found it hard to find one I really like. So many are overly sweet, grainy or artificial tasting for my palate and believe me I’ve tried a good few (and have a garage full of containers to prove it). So when I do use one I often like to mix and match with some fresh ingredients to get the flavour levels right. It’s a kind of half-way house – some convenience but some effort required.

I usually have one if I have an early morning breakfast requirement and

busy day ahead when I need to be up and out of the door fairly quickly. A drink that I can sip whilst getting ready and then finish in the car suits me fine on those days and, if like this drink, gives me a boost ‘bomb’ it keeps me going well until lunchtime. I also know I have a good hefty dose of protein already on board.

I have used a vanilla protein powder for this but you can use a chocolate flavoured one for a chocolate banana bomb instead if preferred. I also used half a frozen banana for a chilled result but you could use ordinary (I keep frozen bananas in my freezer for just this reason and to make speedy bariatric ice creams see here and here).

Unfortunately Bariatric Fusion is over £100 a tub here in the UK

It is expensive here in the UK (although I have seen it lower than £100) but you can use another vanilla protein powder instead with equally good results. Sadly because is is USA produced it incurs large shipping costs and import duties. Pity because it is good and has a great flavour. C x
