It’s 3 year’s ago this month that we launched bariatriccookery.com to a small but committed bunch of supporters of weight-loss surgery. Our aim was to provide some of the best advice around to those who were considering, or who had had, bariatric surgery, providing them with up to date news, credible and proven advice, as well as tasty recipes and tips on food buying, preparation and cooking. 3 years on we still have the same aims (with some additional ones) and a whole lot more followers on the website, through our free newsletter, via Facebook and Twitter and face-to-face at Support Group meetings and seminars. Not forgetting, of course, the personal messages I get on daily basis from all around the world (spanning the globe from Norway to Australia!).
To celebrate in style we have given bariatriccookery.com something of a facelift…it has a new, but still recognisable, format; the usual blog section and recipe library but hopefully now more easy to navigate (and app friendly); a page on surgical procedures which we hope to extend with a bit more information on corrective procedures (watch this space); and finally a new shopping page.
We’re very excited about the shopping page because it brings to the site some of the products we have tested, developed and put through the paces when it comes to usefulness for WLS patients. It’s a small collection of items (which will hopefully grow) which we think make a big difference. They have stood the test of time, proved time and time again to be reliable, are not gimmicky and a quick-fix, but something we are proud to say we have produced or approve of by association.
So there’s our ‘Return to Slender’ cookery books; our bariatric portion plate (a must for bariatric portion control); a bariatric-size bento/lunch box with bag and chiller for at work or away-from-home dining; some hair supplements that have worked for us (and are not ridiculously expensive); some Click protein drink sachets (that we’re trialling in the UK) that we believe are the best around and, surely a given, taste divine! We’ve even put the whole selection together to make a special Total Care Box with all of them in and a couple of extras (like some tasty protein bars and a skin firming cream) that would make a great gift for yourself or a bariatric friend.
So I hope you will take a spin around the site, take a look at the changes (and leave me a message, if you get a chance for the up on what you think, and what we could add or dispense with), but more importantly raise a glass with me to 3 years further down the road with WLS weight-loss/maintenance and bariatric cookery. The drink will still be non-fizzy, non-sugary (but maybe sweet) and not taken with a meal…we’re still following the rules …but certainly shared with friends.
I hope you like what you see!
